VALENTINE V1 Gen 2 Radar Detector
Production of the original Valentine V1 still continues in it's V1: Gen 2, however it has no warranty in New Zealand. JC Installs no longer not stocks the Valentine V1 for a number of reasons, including:
- Newer, more cost-effective technology available.
- No obvious New Zealand distributor
- No official New Zealand Valentine radar repair agent
- Repairs are done exclusively at Valentine in Ohio
- No easy way to get spare bits like a window bracket
- No GPS database for speed cameras
- It's old
We invite you to consider a more modern alternative from Escort, Uniden, Genevo, or Stinger.

While ALL radar detectors have 360-degree detection, Valentine One and Two had a patented warning system that relied on both forward and rear-facing radar antennas (front and rear laser sensors too). It tells you which direction the threat is coming from. In front of you oncoming, or behind you.
Following the demise of the original Valentine V1 came the creatively name "Valentine 1: Gen 2". The 1980s style knob on the front is gone, it's in a new housing but with very little change inside. Probably just as good as the original as far as performance goes, because it was a very good radar. But the lack of parts, service, or warranty here in New Zealand makes it just as pointless as the predecessor, especially if you work out the price/performance vs locally available alternatives.
